Cornstalk Studios

Cornstalk Studios is a production company that began as a piece of software. We set out to build a tool that could make a whole show — not a clip, a series, with the same faces, the same voices and the same building in every episode — and the only honest way to find out whether it could was to make one.

How a tool became a studio

A tool for making video has an easy half and a hard half. The easy half is generating a beautiful eight seconds; every model does it and every demo reel shows it. The hard half is the ninth episode, where the person in the picture has to be the same person who was in the first, and the barn behind them the same barn, and the voice the same voice the audience has been listening to for months. Nothing errors when that goes wrong. Episode nine simply has a stranger in it.

So we built StoryBarn around that hard half: a bible that says what the show is, locked references that every later image is made against, checks that refuse to approve a picture that drifted, and two passes — a cheap rough cut to settle the writing, then the finished picture, paid for once, on what survived. And then we did the thing a tool company almost never does. We wrote a show, fed it through our own front door, and made it.

That show is Hoyts Barn. Making it is what turned us into a studio. Every gap the tool had, the show found: a character whose three views came back from three different rooms, a set that kept its 2026 fittings in a scene set in 2019, a face that could be aged forward but never back. Each one went back into the tool the same week, and the tool got better in the only way a tool like this can — by being used on something real by people who cared how it came out.

We are two things now, and we intend to stay both. We build StoryBarn and offer it to anybody with a story. And we use it, through the same front door as everyone else, to make our own shows, films and music videos. The second is how the first gets better.
